At one point or the other, we’ve all been obsessed with length. In fact, I can say that 70% of us particularly here in Nigeria went natural because we thought it increased our chances of getting long hair. Myself inclusive. But then, we’ve been on this journey for a few years now and the ‘magic long hair’ is nowhere to be found. I feel your pain. Which is why the focus has been shifted from the length of our hair to the health of our hair. Maybe if we get that right, the length will eventually come. Oh, it had better.

Anyway, there are some basic things we all need to know about hair growth and that is what I’m sharing with us today.

  • In order to grow healthy hair, you need to maintain the health of your scalp.
Hair grows from the scalp and you cannot achieve healthy long hair without a healthy scalp. It’s as simple as that.
  • There are five major factors that influence hair growth.
Including genetics, hormones, nutrition, exercise, and stress.
  • Moisture – Protein balance is essential for growing long hair.
This means that every point in time, there should be a balance of the moisture and protein levels in your hair. A good tip is to moisturize every day and do a protein treatment every 4-6 weeks.
